WYCUP recognizes fellows at the World Conference of Credit Unions | 2022-07-20
Young professionals from credit unions around the world finally got the in-person recognition they deserved for the WYCUP scholarships awarded in 2020 and 2021 at the final General Session of the 2022 Credit Union World Conference.
The young professionals admitted on Wednesday to missing previous opportunities to attend a global credit union conference in person, with COVID-19 forcing the cancellation of the annual event in 2020 and prompting WOCCU to make WCUC 2021 an event. completely virtual.
The WYCUP Fellowship Program is open to applicants aged 40 or younger, who have made significant contributions to their credit union or financial cooperative system and have the potential to have a global impact on credit unions . The WYCUP program has awarded more than 110 scholarships since 2001.
WYCUP has also recognized young professionals affiliated with the Association of British Credit Unions Limited (ABCUL), as part of a new scholarship program that recognizes the growth of national YP networks
“It is more important than ever that we invest in our networks, that we have spaces to share and learn from each other, and that we understand that we have more in common than our superficial differences. We have a common interest in the success of people everywhere,” said WYCUP Director Thomas Belekevich. “So today we’re here to celebrate young leaders around the world and the connections they’ve made through this global network we call WYCUP.”
Parmar talks about the importance of empathy
