The best photos of Washington’s 2012 Thanksgiving win over the Cowboys

Around the same time a year ago, the Washington football team beat the Dallas Cowboys, 41-16, on Thanksgiving Day en route to the 2020 NFC East victory.

Rookie running back Antonio Gibson ran for 115 yards and three touchdowns, while defensive end Montez Sweat had the game of the day with his tip and interception return for a touchdown.

As exciting as that performance was, it wasn’t Washington’s biggest triumph over Dallas for Thanksgiving.

Does anyone remember 2012?

Season rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III put on the show, scoring 304 yards and four touchdowns, leading Washington to a 38-31 victory over Tony Romo and the Cowboys. Washington would end this season with seven straight wins and an NFC East championship.

Although this game took place nine years ago, it is still remembered as the funniest season of owner Daniel Snyder’s 20 otherwise forgettable seasons as owner of Washington.

So this Thanksgiving Day, we take a trip down memory lane by looking at some of the best photos of Washington’s victory over Dallas in 2012.
