SUNY Credit Union Announces Three Scholarships | News, Sports, Jobs
The SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union Scholarships were awarded to three high school seniors at their 47th annual meeting last month.
Frances C. Granta served as the first president of the Credit Union in 1974. The recipient of the 22nd annual Frances C. Granata Scholarship is Jocelyn Bowers. Bowers graduated from Dunkirk high school in June.
She is the daughter of Paul and Lynn Bowers. Throughout high school, she participated in tennis and swimming as well as in plays, the National Honor Society, and the French National Honor Society. She was an active volunteer throughout her high school years at Dunkirk Lighthouse, WNY Curvy Girls Scoliosis, and recently at the Lakeshore Humane Society. In the fall, she plans to attend Waynesburg University to earn a degree in marine biology.
Lacey Milius, a student at Silver Creek High School, is the recipient of the 22nd annual Paul T. Schonhart Scholarship. Schonhart served as chairman of the credit union’s board of directors for fifteen years. She is the daughter of Jérémy and Anne Milius. She has been on the Varsity Cheerleading team since her freshman year and served as co-captain of the Winter Competitive team this year; she is a member of the National Honor Society where she had the opportunity to volunteer at various community service events; Lacey is also a member of the Key Club and the prom committee. In the fall, she will be attending SUNY Brockport. Currently, she is enrolled as an undeclared major as she is not sure what career she wants to pursue after college.
Sydney Dahl, is the recipient of the 20th Annual Patricia M. Rushboldt Fellowship. The scholarship is awarded in memory of a dedicated employee of SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union for 28 years. She is the daughter of Tammi Moloney and currently a senior at Pine Valley Central School. She plays on the varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams. She has received the Scholar Athlete award multiple times for maintaining her honor roll grades while playing sports. She is President of the National Technical Honor Society of LoGuidice BOCES, an FFA leader, has been in 4-H for eight years and Co-Chair of the Class of 2022. She is a certified lifeguard and has worked for Pine Valley. Central Schools as a lifeguard and currently works at the school’s fitness center. She plans to attend SUNY Fredonia for pre-vet medicine and then go on to become a veterinarian.
