Midstate Chamber: Connecticut credit unions honor AEFCU with multiple awards

HARTFORD EAST, CONN. October 26, 2021 American Eagle Financial Credit Union won big prize at APEX 2021 the annual conference of the Credit Union League of Connecticut (CULCT) as the Credit Union received many honors during the awards portion of the conference two days. The awards mark another successful year for American Eagle, which has grown to become Connecticut’s largest community chartered credit union with more than 160,000 members.
AEFCU has been recognized by fellow Connecticut credit unions in the following categories:
2021 Dean Marchessault Outstanding Leadership Award for a Credit Union
Dean Marchessault, President and CEO of American Eagle Financial Credit Union, has been named Credit Union Director of the Year 2021. Marchessault, who will retire at the end of the year, was selected for his exceptional service and outstanding contributions which have strengthened both AEFCU and the credit union industry.
The 2021 Desjardins Financial Education Prize
The Desjardins Prize recognizes leadership within the credit union movement in favor of financial literacy for all ages. American Eagle took first place for its “Financial Literacy is for All Ages” education campaign throughout Financial Literacy Month (April 2021).
2021 Dora Maxwell Award for Community Service in Social Responsibility
The Maxwell Award recognizes credit unions who have excelled in community relations and who are engaged in ongoing charitable programs within their communities. American Eagle won first place for the launch of its innovative and popular community outreach program “Cash Back to the Community” which has donated $ 163,000 to nonprofits in the AEFCU service area since creation of the program in January 2020.
The 2021 Marketing Excellence Award: Public Relations Category
American Eagle took first place for its successful public relations strategies behind Credit Union’s “Cash Back to the Community” program.
Outstanding Advocate of Credit Unions Award 2020
The Lawyer of the Year award is presented to an individual who has excelled in popular advocacy at the federal and state levels. Marchessault won this award in 2020, and its presentation has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
