Men’s swimming and diving: Macalester breaks relay record on day one of MIAC Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – The Macalester College Men’s Swimming and Diving Team kicked off the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships with a school record Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The swimming portion of the encounter began with the 200-yard medley relay, with the Scottish quartet of seniors Aidan Williams (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton College Prep), Freshman Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), senior Benjamin Blomquist (Las Vegas, Nevada/Ed W. Clark) and Freshman Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) breaking the school record with a time of 1:37.56 to place fifth. The Scots broke the old record of 1:38.78, set in 2011.

Wednesday’s other relay was the 800-yard freestyle relay, with the freshman team Adam Schröder (Altadena, CA/St. Francois), Jay Fanning (Tiffin, Ohio/Columbian), Ryan McNeff (Seattle, Washington/Roosevelt) and Adrian Aguilar (Oakland, Calif./St. Joseph’s Notre Dame) taking fifth place in 7:48.56. The University of Minnesota Aquatics Center requires participants to wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times. Tickets must be purchased online here; no cash or credit card purchases.
