Extra Credit Union awards $10,000 in grants to local schools – Macomb Daily

Extra Credit Union has helped educators with some of these additional items that can help them reach more students or perhaps brighten up classes. Each year, they award $10,000 in grants to local schools and classrooms, or nearly $110,000 over the 11 years they have offered the grants.

Macomb County School Employee Grant recipients include:

• Rosemarie Petty, Holden Elementary School, $1,200 to purchase decodable readers and literacy games.
• Sara Coffee and Jeremy Olstyn, Cousino High School, $560 to purchase new chairs for use in television production and radio broadcasting classes.
• Megan Baranski and Stasi Earl, Roseville Middle School, $1,000 to purchase miscellaneous equipment for the women’s basketball teams at both colleges in Roseville.
• John Gomola and Amber Williamson, Sterling Heights High School, $735 to purchase a drone along with other materials for the “A Digital Birds Eye View” project to use in various classes.
• Leanne Davis, Chatterton Middle School, $1,000 to help fund student success celebrations.
• Amanda Clor and John Adamus, Fitzgerald High School, $650 to help fund the Fitzgerald Spartan Academic All-Star Extravaganza.
• Mark Tapp, International Academy of Macomb, $2,000 to help fund the IAM Modern Classroom project.
• Tracey Bailey, Wolfe Middle School, $551 to purchase math manipulative games for math intervention students.
•Vic Kolpak and other counsellors, Warren-Mott High School, $1,000 to help fund items needed for the school’s START program.

Grant recipients will be honored in June at Extra Credit Union‘s annual Achievement Awards.
