KR2K on DVD!
After years of waiting for a commercial release, KR2K finally arrives!
As the webmaster of this site, I can't tell you how many times I have been asked: "Where can I buy Knight Rider 2000?" For the six years that KR2KOL has been operating, I have been telling people over and over again "You can't."
Believe me, it hurt me to tell them that there was no way they could (legally) buy this movie. I didn't want to send people to get ripped off on eBay, and an arrangement between myself and another fan quickly fell to shambles before it could take off.
Now, I am proud to announce, that after years and years of waiting, KR2K is finally available for sale.
But there is a catch... you have to buy it in the Season One Box Set of Knight Rider!
I would barely call that a catch, however, as any fan of Knight Rider has been waiting with baited breath for this box set to be released!
The Knight Rider Season One DVD is spectacular! I bought my copy the day it came out (yesterday, August 3, 2004) and the first thing I watched was Knight Rider 2000.
Let me tell you that I have almost forgotten how great this movie is. And now in DVD form, it is preserved forever! The video is wonderfully clear, the audio is AWESOME. While it is not in 5.1 surround, if you view it with a home theater system, it almost seems like you are in the middle of the action.
For the first time since its NBC broadcast on May 19, 1991, Knight Rider 2000 is shown in its uncut and original form with two minor edits (that work for the movie instead of against it.) They both take place during the first chase scene (where KITT goes into the drink). The first was first seen when SciFi aired the movie. It is a quick one second scene that was not included in the NBC release that is a fast shot of the police cars driving around the dock crane and speeding away from the camera. The next edit takes place after KITT takes his less-than-graceful nose dive into the bay and sinks. In the original NBC edit, after the car sank, that is where the commercial break happened. Then when we returned to the movie, we saw the shot of the bubbles rising from the sinking Chevy. This has now been restored to a seemless depiction and is very flowing, instead of slapping a commercial in there to interupt the action.
I highly recommend any Knight Rider fan, new and old, to go and grab this DVD box set. Even if you only buy it for Knight Rider 2000!
